"It takes two to speak the truth - one to speak, and the other to listen." - Henry David Thoreau
Chris Drouin founded Beyond Wealth Management in order to help people achieve their financial dreams by providing attentive, personal and customized service to each client. Focusing on individual goals, the company provides creative and flexible solutions that excite and empower clients. Beyond Wealth Management continuously strives to find the most effective tools, timely knowledge and best practices to serve every client, regardless of their situations, needs or goals. This commitment to quality motivated Chris to embark on an extensive research project that ultimately resulted in Beyond Wealth Management's Wealth Care Process.
Raised in northwestern Connecticut, Chris has lived in The Hudson Valley for fifteen years. He graduated with his BA in Psychology from The State University of New York at New Paltz in 1996, and went on to study Counseling and Experimental Psychology at the Masters level. He also taught Statistics, Experimental Methodology and General Psychology at SUNY New Paltz. His background in general psychology, family therapy, experimental research and statistics makes Chris uniquely equipped to handle group dynamics and help clients manage complex situations.
After concluding his graduate studies, Chris served as an Academic Adviser and Admissions Adviser at SUNY New Paltz, where he oversaw athletic, fine arts and performing arts recruitment. With his intimate knowledge of the admissions and financial aid process, Chris is uniquely suited to discuss all aspects of the issues surrounding college funding. His 9 year tenure as a college-level athletic coach also helped prepare Chris to work as a collaborative and empathetic team leader.
During his five years as a representative for the Mutual of Omaha umbrella of services, Chris was awarded Agent of the Year (2005) and was twice recognized nationally as a sales leader. His clients consisted of entrepreneurs, business owners, high net worth individuals, parents struggling to fund both college tuition and retirement and people dealing with the new "retirementality."
In the past year, 100% of new clients were referred by existing clients and by other professional advisors, such as CPAs, attorneys and human resource consultants. By limiting the number of new clients he will work with at any given time, Chris has earned a client retention rate above 98%. Recognizing that the only constant is change, in the last year alone Chris invested over 300 hours to further develop his skills and knowledge.
An active member of the financial services community, he presented on the topics of explaining complicated tax concepts to clients and working productively with accountants and attorneys at the 2006 National Sales Symposium. Chris is also active outside of the financial world - an outdoorsman and music aficionado, he also enjoys winemaking, is an amateur sommelier and has taken extensive culinary cooking courses at the Culinary Institute of America.
